How do I Unload My Car Lift From The Delivery Truck?

March 28th, 2010

This is probably our number one question we get from customers. Obviously, most home owners don’t have access to a forklift. And most of our Car Lifts are very heavy and cannot be unloaded piece by piece.

Some models can be unloaded by a truck with a liftgate. However most lift models are too big for a liftgate. This means we have no way to get it off the delivery truck for you.
Many people rent a fork lift to unload from truck, others a tow truck or tilt-bed or flat bed.
Anything that you can use to strap and hook package to unload it will work, as long as it can hold the weight.
Others have a bobcat, tractor or backhoe or some other piece of equipment at their disposal.
Some choose to pick up lift at their local carrier’s terminal.
They will contact you when it arrives at their terminal and then they will have it loaded into your trailer or truck. Then you can unload it at your leisure piece by piece when you get it home.
Whatever method you choose, it is well worth the effort!
We can provide a tracking number for your shipment that will allow you to contact the shipper to find out exactly when it is scheduled to arrive so that you can prepare in whatever way necessary, or to delay shipment if necessary. If these options are not viable for you, the final option is we can set you up with a local installer who can receive the product on your behalf, and then bring it out and install it for a fee. Installation fees will vary, depending on the model lift and other factors.
Please give us a call with any further questions, or when you’re ready to place your order.

Looking For A Top Quality USA Made Floor Jack?

March 23rd, 2010

We carry many great jacks by many different manufacturers. We require any car jack that we carry to be of a commercial quality, and to have rebuild kits and parts available. If they don’t, we won’t carry them. It’s that simple. Our customers are serious users and demand quality.

But there are some customers that require even more. Some customers want just the very best. And they won’t settle for anything less. That’s where Hein Werner Hydraulic Jacks come in. These jacks are top-of-the-line all the way. And the Best part – They’re made in the USA. Some customers require this of any jack they purchase. It’s getting more and more difficult these days to find this type of product that is still made in America.

We are proud to carry such a great product by such a fine manufacturer. We’ve been carrying their equipment for over 5 years, and have had tremendous feedback on them. When you purchase a Hein Werner Floor Jack, you don’t have to worry about the seals leaking six weeks after you get it. Buy with American confidence!

What’s The Difference Between Symmetric And Asymmetric Two Post Lifts?

March 21st, 2010

One of the most common questions we get from customers who are shopping for Two Post Lifts is, “What’s the difference between symmetric and asymmetric two post lifts”?

If this was a question you have wondered about, then here is your answer;
Symmetric lifts position the vehicle centered, so that approximately the same amount of the vehicle is in front of the posts as is off the rear.

Asymmetric lifts position the vehicle further back on the lift, allowing you to open the doors easier. Figure about two thirds of the vehicle ends up being behind the posts on an asymmetric lift.

Bend-Pak also rotates the colums at a 30 degree angle, so that when you open the door, you don’t hit the corner of the post.

This also allows you to open the doors even further. Most manufactures have symmetric or asymmetric lifts. One or the other.

Being front-heavy, most vehicles actually balance out well asymmetrically, but some vehicles don’t. Rear engine cars, vans with equipment in them, extra long crew cab pick-up trucks. These vehicles balance out better symmetric.

BendPak Lifts also allow you to configure the arms symmetric on their asymmetric models only.
This makes the asymmetric models truly unique and very versatile, because if you have a vehicle that doesn’t balance out well asymmetrically, you can push it forward and make it symmetric – The best of both worlds.

The one benefit of the symmetric model is that you have the option of placing the vehicle on the lift backwards. This would be a feature that would not be an option on the asymmetric lifts. They also offer a slightly greater drive through clearance, and distance between the columns, because the posts aren’t rotated at an angle.
Most customers these days choose asymmetric, however there are still plenty of customers that choose symmetric lifts. Let us know if you have any questions about this issue, and we’ll get you the answers you need.
