What do you get when you cross a pallet jack with a forklift? No that’s not an opening line of some lame old joke. That’s the question you ask right before someone answers, ” The model MSC-6K portable lift“.
It combines the features of a pallet jack and a forklift. It can be rolled around and transported like a pallet jack, and can be rolled under the side of a disabled vehicle, and then the arms positioned under the car’s jacking points, and then raised all the way up to a full lifting height.
It is rare to have an Automotive Lift that is portable, also raise a car to a full lifting height of 69 inches. That’s what makes this lift so popular. It has features that most other lifts don’t have. You can even drive one side of the vehicle over the arms, so it isn’t always necessary to roll the lift under the car. It’s rated at 6000 lbs. capacity and is powered by 110 volts AC. The lowered pad height is 5 inches and can spin up to 9” to adjust for taller vehicle jacking points.
While any lift requires care and vigilance when it comes to safety, portable lifts require extra care, especially when it raises to a full height like this one. Common sense should tell you that something that is mounted to a concrete floor will be more stable than something that is not.
This one is extremely popular with the salvage yards, and we get great feedback on it. Let us know if you have any questions.
If you’re a home / hobbyist looking for a Four Post Lift for storing one vehicle over another, or just for servicing your vehicles, you’ve got many choices out there. We carry three different manufacturers. Most lift manufacturers will have similar options when it comes to accessories.
When it comes to servicing your vehicles, the popular accessories would be the jack plate, air bridge jack and oil drain. The jack plate would stretch across from one runway to the other, and you would place a couple of bottle jacks, or scissor jacks on it, to correspond with the vehicle’s jacking points, so that you can access the vehicle’s wheels for brake work, etc…
An alternative to the jack plate is the air bridge jack. This would serve the same purpose as the jack plate, but integrates an air jack into it, making it much easier and more convenient to work with than the jack plate. It is truly a professional accessory.
If you’re using your car lift for servicing your car, then odds are, you’re going to be changing your oil from time to time. So an oil drain is almost a must-have item in this case. After all, you don’t want to have to hold a bucket over your head. There are many different oil drain options available. Some roll on the ground and have a long neck and a funnel on the top. Others roll up and down the length of the runways and remain mounted to the lift.
Accessories that come in handy for your four post lift when using it for storing your cars would be the drip trays and caster kit.
The drip trays would rest in between the runways and are sold in sets of three. They are there to protect the car underneath from getting drips on them.
Since most home / hobby four post lifts are free standing, the optional caster kit would be used to roll the lift around your shop, or perhaps even out your Garage Door if it will fit. This makes your four post lift a truly portable lift. This is a handy feature that makes your lift more versatile.
These are just some of the more popular four post lift options. We will delve deeper into some more options in a future post.
Some people want options. Auto shop owners and home hobbyists who purchase our BendPak Lifts will ask for all kinds of options / accessories. Sometimes it’s truck adapters for their two post lifts, (which come standard on all Bend Pak Lifts). Other times, a home hobbyist will purchase the optional caster kit for their four post lift, so they can roll it around their shop and make it a portable lift.
Most customers are happy with the standard shade of blue that Bend Pak offers for their lifts. But every so often, we get special requests from customers for an alternate color. BendPak is able to accommodate these customers for a reasonable fee. The basic alternatives offered are the traditional black and red. Another option is yellow. These colors come at two different options when it comes to time frame. If you are in no hurry, and would like to save a buck or two, the “long term” time frame option price is very reasonable and typically takes 60 to 90 days to become available. The fee could run from $130 to $175 for a 10,000 lb. two post lift. If you cannot wait that long, you can always go for the “expedited” rate, which runs over $400 for the same type of lift. This should be ready to ship out in a couple of weeks typically. If you desire a custom color, give us a call at 800-229-6218 and we’ll quote you on that.
No matter what you need, we’re here to make you happy.
I’ve been waiting for a lift like this!
That’s what we’ve been hearing from customers since we started carrying the new iDeal MSC-6K Portable Auto Lift . It’s part pallet jack, part forklift, and 100 percent smart. This lift is an intelligent choice for auto shops or salvage yards, or anybody who wants to raise a disabled vehicle out on their lot. You simply roll it out to the vehicle that you want to raise, slide it underneath the vehicle from the side, position the pads where you need them and then just raise it up. Once raised, you have nearly complete access to the underside of the car. Plus, it provides you a generous lifting height of 69 inches. It must be on a level surface and extra care should be taken when a longer / heavier vehicle is raised to the higher heights. It’s powered off of 110 v AC.
It’s not perfect for every situation, but it sure serves the purpose for a wide variety of scenarios and as you can see, it is obviously an extremely handy car lift to have around.
