Frequently Asked Questions
What air pressure do I need to run a motorcycle lift?
Most pneumatic motorcycle lifts require 90 to 100 PSI from an external air source, which isn't included with the lift itself. Confirm your shop compressor can deliver that pressure consistently, particularly if you're running other air tools on the same line, since a compressor that's undersized for the demand will struggle to operate the lift smoothly.
Will a motorcycle lift work for my ATV or UTV too?
Many models are built for exactly that kind of multi-use, especially once fitted with side extensions that widen the platform. For larger UTVs specifically, a frame-engaging lift rated up to 2,500 lbs. handles the added weight and width better than a standard motorcycle platform designed primarily for two-wheeled bikes.
How do I know what platform length I need?
Measure your longest bike, particularly if you own a touring motorcycle or cruiser with an extended wheelbase. Standard platforms run around 85 inches, while extra-long options extend to around 99 inches. A platform that's too short leaves the wheels unsupported at either end, which isn't safe once the bike is raised.
Do I need a wheel vise, or can I secure the bike another way?
A front wheel vise is what allows one person to load and secure a motorcycle without a second set of hands holding it upright, since it clamps the front wheel in place the moment the bike is rolled into position. Without one, you'll need a helper or a different stabilization method every time you use the lift, which slows things down considerably.
Can I get rear wheel access once the bike is raised?
Yes, if the model includes a removable rear drop-out panel or dropout section. This opens up the area beneath the rear wheel for tire changes, chain maintenance, and swingarm work that a solid flat platform wouldn't allow. Not every model includes this feature standard, so check for it specifically if rear-wheel service is something you'll need regularly.
