Atlas BP8000 Baseplate Two Post Lift 8,000 lbs. Capacity +
LMA Lawn Mower Adapter Combo

The Atlas BP8000 is a base-plate two-post lift designed for low ceiling garages. The total column height of 108" (9 feet) allows this lift to be installed in almost any professional or home garage with a ceiling as low as 9 feet 3 inches.

This combo includes the Atlas Lawn Mower Adapter or LMA. The LMA allows the Two Post Lift to better raise ATVs, UTVs, and lawn mowers. The LMA is adjustable along the length of the lifts arms to handle different wheelbase vehicles. The weight capacity of the LMA is dependent on the positioning of the adapter (higher when the plates are closer to the columns) and the balance of the weight of the vehicle being lifted.

Atlas BP8000 Baseplate Two Post Lift 8,000 lbs. Capacity

The Atlas BP8000 is a base-plate two-post lift designed for low ceiling garages. The total column height of 108" (9 feet) allows this lift to be installed in almost any professional or home garage with a ceiling as low as 9 feet 3 inches.

The current model of BP8000 now comes with 3-stage rear arms instead of the old 2-stage, giving more flexibility to your lifting points.

The Atlas BP8000 features a single-point lock release, automatic arm restraints, super symmetric arms, double safety lock system, powder coat finish, and heavy-duty dual hydraulic chain-drive cylinders (one cylinder in each column).

Single Point Lock Release - This Atlas Lift has a manual single point lock release that allows the operator to release all the safety locks at one time. The spring loaded lock handle and power unit dump valve must be activated at the same time. (two hand operation) If the lock handle is released and the dump valve handle is still being pressed, the lift will continue to descend and all locks will automatically re-engage at the next lower lock point.

Double Lock System - This lock system incorporates two locking mechanisms for added safety. The double lock system is automatically activated as the lift is raised. When the vehicle reaches the desired height, the lift is raised just past that locking position and then lowered into that lock, which removes the hydraulic pressure from the cylinders. When the vehicle is ready to be lowered to the ground, the vehicle is raised an inch or two and the double lock system is disengaged by pulling a handle located near the power unit. There is no need for the operator to go to both columns and manually unlock both column locks. All lifting and lowering operations are controlled from one column post. Double safety locks built into each column that can be unlocked by one release lever make this lift one of the safest and easiest to operate base plate lift in the Industry. Two locks...one release...no hassle...available from ATLAS.

Chain-Over-Roller Cylinder Configuration - This 2-post lift has the chain-over-roller cylinder configuration. There are two popular hydraulic cylinder configurations used in two post electric/hydraulic above ground lifts: Greg Smith Equipment sells above ground lifts that incorporate both the direct drive cylinder configuration and the chain-over-roller cylinder configuration. The base plate two post above ground lift implements the chain-over-roller configuration. This is the only hydraulic cylinder system that is possible in the base plate lift. The base plate two post above ground is designed for "low ceilings". The direct drive hydraulic cylinder configuration cannot be used in the base plate lift because the hydraulic cylinder would extend above the 9' column when the lift arms were raised to the maximum height. The "overhead" two post above ground lift may incorporate either the direct drive hydraulic cylinder or the chain-over-roller hydraulic cylinder.

Super Symmetric Arm Configuration - Our super symmetric arm configuration is a great improvement over the traditional asymmetric or symmetric arm configuration. Our most asked question about our arm configuration is: "Can I get in and out of the vehicle easily"? The Atlas super symmetric arm configuration allows the customer to get in and out of the vehicle with ease. The real question should be; "Can I position the arms properly (arm pads under the correct lift points) and still get in and out of the vehicle easily"? The Super Symmetric arm design answers "YES" to this question.

Automatic Arm Restraints - are needed to keep the arm "locked" into a position relative to the carriage. When the arms are at rest in the lowest position, the arm restraint pin (which extends below the carriage) is pressed up and the lock (teeth) mechanism is disengaged. The operator can then move the arms so that the lift pads can be properly positioned under the vehicle’s lift points. Once the carriage is raised (approximately 2 inches) the lock is reengaged and the arms cannot be moved. However, the operator may pull the knob or metal ring to manually unlock the arms. Lock restraints do not guarantee that a vehicle cannot be "moved" off of the lift pads. Operator should use care when working on vehicles that have an abundant amount of undercoating (lift pads may "slide") or a significant weight imbalance of the vehicle may occur due to removal of an engine or transmission. Also, "HEAVY wrenching" may result in a vehicle shifting weight on the arm pads. We recommend the use of tall jack stands under the vehicle to add another layer of safety.

Atlas LMA Lawn Mower Adapter

The Atlas LMA Lawn Mower Adapter will transform most two post above ground lifts into an easy to use lawn mower lift, golf car lift, snowmobile lift, ATV lift, or a small sports car lift.

The Atlas LMA adapts easily to most two post above ground lifts that are equipped with a symmetric arm design. The LMA is adjustable in width to accommodate the many different arm configurations found on two post lifts. The Atlas LMA can be used in an infinite amount of wheel base configurations (between 32" and 90") to allow the operator great flexibility in lifting different pieces of lawn service equipment with varying wheelbases.

Most of the specialty lawn mower lifts and golf cart lifts are just variations of the economical automobile lift. Golf course maintenance equipment distributors are demanding artificially high prices for specialty above ground lifts that are just subtle adaptations of the very affordable two post above ground car lifts.

When properly installed, the Atlas LMA can transform most two post above ground lifts into an economical four wheel support lift that will accommodate wheel bases from 32" to 90". The Atlas LMA plates can be positioned ONLY on two post lift arms that offer symmetric arm configuration.

Please read the following before buying or using the Atlas LMA:

The Atlas LMA is designed to work well with most two post above ground lifts with symmetric arms. There are many factors that will determine the SAFE weight capacity of the Atlas LMA on YOUR lift. Greg Smith Equipment Sales recommends the following LMA guidelines for the SAFE lifting of all specialty vehicles or lawn service equipment.

Many above ground two post lifts have been OVER RATED by certain lift distributor. Your 9,000 lbs. or 10,000 lbs. two post may be (in reality) only an 8,000 lbs. two post lift.

For the purpose of illustration, let us assume that you have an REAL 8,000 lbs. two post lift.

This 8,000 lbs. capacity translates into an important fact about above ground two post lifts: An 8,000 lbs. two post lift has four lift arms that are capable of lifting (and safely supporting) 2,000 lbs. each. If you are lifting an 8,000 lbs. vehicle on an 8,000 lbs. lift, then the weight of the vehicle needs to be evenly distributed on each of the four lifting points.

This same principle is applied when using the Atlas LMA as an accessory on your lift. You must distribute the weight as evenly as possible.

First, you must consider the weight of the LMA (600 lbs.) and deduct the 600 lbs. from the lifting capacity of your lift. Your 8,000 lbs. lift (with a properly positioned LMA) has a new lifting capacity of 7400 lbs.

The closer the LMA plate is positioned to the vertical columns, the greater the lifting capacity of the LMA. As the LMA adapter plates are moved farther apart (toward the lift pads of the lift), the lifting capacity of the LMA is reduced.

We recommend that the lift operator DEDUCT 3,000 lbs. lifting capacity of the above ground lift when the two LMA plates are spaced at the furthest wheelbase position (90"). When the LMA plates are positioned at the closest wheel base position (32"), then the weight capacity of the above ground lift with the attached LMA should be DECREASED by 2,000 lbs.

If you are using an 8,000 lbs. two post lift, and you have the wheelbase dimensions set at 32", then the NEW lifting capacity of the lift would be 6,000 lbs. If you position the LMA plates so that the wheelbase is 90", then the NEW lifting capacity would be 5,000 lbs.

If you are lifting a mower (or other vehicle) that is extremely heavy on one end, then the operator should position the LMA plate supporting the "heavy" end closer to the vertical column and extend the opposite LMA plate (supporting the "lighter" end) further out on the lift arm to accommodate the necessary wheelbase.
